Adapt or Suffer – Health is Non-Negotiable
My origin is Africa, and I have met many of my African brothers and sisters who complain to me about allergies. They say, I never had this problem back home. Whether it’s pollen, dust, or food allergies, they struggle to accept that their bodies now react differently in a new environment. Many don’t want to take medication because they never needed it before. But here’s the truth: every place comes with its own challenges. Back in Africa, we faced different health risks—malaria, extreme heat, infections, and diseases that required constant vigilance. We didn’t resist taking malaria medication, using mosquito nets, or drinking clean water because we knew it was necessary. We adapted. Now, in a different climate, with new triggers, the same principle applies. The air is different. The food is different. Even our immune systems adapt over time. So why resist the solutions that can help us live healthier and more comfortably? In Africa, there was one kind of discomfort; here, there is another. That’s life. No place is paradise. The key to resilience is recognizing what we can control and taking action. Health is not about nostalgia—it’s about reality. If taking allergy medication, using air purifiers, or adjusting your lifestyle can improve your well-being, why fight it? Adapting to your environment isn’t weakness; it’s survival. Whether you are in Africa, Europe, or anywhere else, one thing is clear: your health is non-negotiable.
